Doctor examining a child

Riley Hospital for Children is committed to the care of the individual child and family.

  • The child with
    cancer is our primary focus.
  • We recognize the value of therapeutic relationships between the child and family with doctors, nurses, and other therapists.
  • A deep, existing relationship develops between the child, the family, and the Riley physician..

Riley cares for 75% of all children with cancer in Indiana. Our doctors have more experience treating children with cancer than any other program in the state.

Compassionate Care

A child with cancer needs the compassionate care and the expertise of Riley doctors to deal with this rare condition -- childhood cancer.

At Riley, our entire staff of caregivers is dedicated to the healing of the body and the spirit. Each child and family will heal together during this special treatment at Riley.

Tomorrow's Treatment Today

Only Riley Hospital and IU Medical Center can bring together all facets of medical science in one place. Riley physicians ensure that tomorrow's treatments are better and safer than today's. They are also among the leaders responsible for the development of many of those treatments.

They accomplish this by:

  • Leading clinical research trials which evaluate the usefulness of the most promising therapies;
  • Leading and participating in clinical research trials which determine the safety of innovative therapies;
  • Performing laboratory investigations to uncover potential cancer therapies;
  • Linking lab discoveries with their value in children -- another unique aspect of Riley physicians.

The Hematology/Oncology Section of the Department of Pediatrics provides consultation, diagnostic and treatment services to children with hematologic problems and malignancies. Section members participate in pediatric cancer clinical research through membership in the Children's Cancer Group and its affiliation with the National Cancer Institute.
