Simon Family Tower Beam Signing

Riley patients, families, staff and dignitaries immortalized their signatures on a beam that was placed in the southeast portion of the new Simon Family Tower during the ‘Topping Out’ ceremony on March 4, 2008. Video screens placed in the Riley Atrium allowed everyone to watch the crane hoist the signed beam in place.

A 'Topping Out' ceremony is typically held to commemorate the placement of the last beam at the top of a building. 'Topping Out' also included the tradition of placing an evergreen tree on top of the beam symbolizing growth and bringing luck.
